Wild Walk 2012
African Heartland Journeys
Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa

Following the success of the Wild Walk 2011, in partnership with WESSA and supported by the Mazda Wildlife Fund, the Wild Walk 2012 will take place from 1st-21st March. This bold and challenging nationwide event is in it's second year and aims to raise awareness of conservation and educational issues which need to be addressed in the Wild Coast area.

A core team of walkers from African Heartland Journeys & WESSA will be walking the 320km stretch of the Wild Coast, from Mthenthu to Chintsa, which represents one of the least developed regions in the country and makes up the coastal belt of the former Transkei homeland. Supported by a Mazda 4x4 back-up vehicle throughout the entire journey, walkers are invited to be a part of the experience, the diversity of which is unparalleled in any existing hike in Southern Africa. With a choice of four hiking sections to suit your needs - from accommodation in tented camps and Xhosa village homestays to luxury hotels, there is a section of the walk to suit everyone.
